Business Continuity Plan
Although it is impossible to plan for every possible
significant business interruption, Weitz Investment Management, Inc. and Weitz
Securities, Inc. have adopted a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) intended to
ensure that service disruptions are minimized in the event of a natural or
man-made disaster or other type of emergency. In the event of such a
disruption, every effort will be made to resume critical operations (funds
valuation, transaction processing, security trading and answering client
inquiries) within 24 hours.
Our BCP encompasses all operating areas within our firm. It
includes record retention and data backup measures as well as the
identification of response teams and alternative processing sites. Our plans
are regularly updated and tested.
In the unlikely event of a natural or man-made disaster, our
primary objective is to safeguard our employees and our physical property so
that we can quickly resume operations. Other objectives include safeguarding
our clients' assets and retaining our records. If a disaster should occur that
renders our office location unavailable, those staff members associated with
business critical services will be relocated to offsite locations in order to
resume normal operations as quickly as possible. If a disruption occurs of such
magnitude that it prevents us from calculating our funds' prices, the
processing of transactions may be delayed until fund pricing resumes.
If a business disruption should occur, our phone system will
be rerouted to an offsite location where you can continue to reach us at our
normal business number, (800) 304-9745 during normal business hours. If a
significant disaster disrupts your ability to contact us by phone, please
access our website at www.weitzinvestments.com.
