History

At Weitz, we've built an entire culture around our investment philosophy. Every member of our staff has the flexibility to use their intelligence and experience to take action when they see fit, with just one restriction: Our clients' interests come first.

It’s been that way ever since 1983, when Wally Weitz invested $11 million for his first clients with a common-sense formula: own a group of strong businesses with deeply discounted stock prices. This philosophy permeates the Weitz Way.

Today, we are responsible for approximately $4 billion in investments for our clients – individuals, corporations, pension plans, foundations and endowments.

The Weitz Way

We strive to capitalize on opportunities that arise during periods of market volatility. Decisions we make are backed by thorough research, logical strategies, extensive debate and our personal commitment to long-term results, which is built on these three principles

We're in it with you:  All team members at Weitz are invested in the mutual funds we manage, aligning our best interests with those of our investors.

We're research driven:  Our disciplined, consistent and time-tested investment process gives our investors an edge in the highly competitive investment world.

We think for ourselves:  As an employee-owned firm, flexibility, common sense and independent thinking are core attributes we rely on to rise above the emotional highs and lows of the market, providing the potential to outperform.
