Tom’s conservative instinct makes him a perfect candidate to manage the firm’s fixed income portfolios. Tom is the portfolio manager of the Nebraska Tax-Free Income Fund and co-manages the Core Plus Income Fund, Short Duration Income Fund, and Ultra Short Government Fund. Tom began his investment career in 1982 at Chiles, Heider & Co., Inc., a regional brokerage firm in Omaha, where he held several positions. In 1986, he became a municipal securities professional with Smith Barney in Omaha. Four years later, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in finance at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Tom joined Weitz Investment Management, Inc. in 1995. He has been a CFA® charterholder since 1999 and was the president of the CFA Society of Nebraska from 2005-2006.

Nolan dedicates his time and skills to identifying new opportunities for our fixed income portfolios. He joined Weitz Investment Management in November 2011 and co-manages Core Plus Income Fund, Short Duration Income Fund and Ultra Short Government Fund. Previously, he performed financial modeling and due diligence on leveraged buyout transactions for Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco. From 2004-2007 he worked as a commercial real estate research analyst for Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society in Omaha. Nolan holds a bachelor›s degree in real estate and land use economics and a master's in business administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
