The performance data for Partners III Opportunity Fund quoted in the article, is for the Fund's Institutional Class and is for the time period since inception of the fund (June 1, 1983) through August 31, 2013.  The returns presented by Bloomberg BusinessWeek are rounded.   The actual returns for the fund and the S&P 500 Index for this period were 13.50% and 10.64%, respectively.

Weitz Partners III Opportunity Fund-Institutional Class average annual total returns for the one, five, and ten-year periods ended June 30, 2013, were 27.60, 15.70% and 9.93%, respectively. The returns assume reinvestment of dividends and redemption at the end of each period, and reflect the deduction of annual operating expenses, which as stated in the most recent Prospectus are 1.60% of the Fund’s Institutional Class net assets. The returns above also include fee waivers and/or expense reimbursements previously made by the Investment Adviser; total returns would have been lower had there been no such waivers or reimbursements. Current performance may be higher or lower than the performance data quoted. Comparative returns are the average returns for the applicable period of the S&P 500 Index. The S&P 500 Index is an unmanaged index consisting of 500 companies generally representative of the market for the stocks of large-size U.S. companies.

Performance of the Partners III Opportunity Fund (the "Fund") is measured from June 1, 1983, the inception of Weitz Partners III Limited Partnership (the "Partnership"). As of December 30, 2005, the Fund succeeded to substantially all of the assets of the Partnership. The investment objectives, policies, guidelines and restrictions of the Fund are materially equivalent to those of the Partnership and the Partnership was managed at all times with full investment authority by Wallace R. Weitz & Company. The performance information includes performance for the period before the Fund became an investment company registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. During this period, the Partnership was not registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and, therefore, was not subject to certain investment or other restrictions or requirements imposed by the 1940 Act or the Internal Revenue Code. If the Partnership had been registered under the 1940 Act during this period, the Partnership's performance might have been adversely affected.
