Community Involvement

Investing in Others

At Weitz Investments, we are committed to help individuals and organizations achieve their long-term financial goals and to help communities prosper. We have a long history of supporting community well-being through our civic and charitable contributions. We invest in improving the lives of others through our commitment to three key areas:

Financial Literacy & Education

We support initiatives in financial literacy and education that provide or enhance skills and knowledge to individuals of all ages regarding money and finance that enable a sound and actionable understanding of one's personal finances. Enhancing knowledge of personal finance tools and skills can promote a brighter long-term financial future.

Opportunities for All to Thrive in Omaha

We believe in promoting a fun, safe, creative and inclusive Omaha. Weitz has partnered with organizations that promote local arts, education, sports and athletics, health and human services, lifestyle and healthy living, safety, and social inclusion and equality.

Employee Community Engagement

Our philanthropic values run deep and permeate our firm and culture. Each year all employees have an opportunity to nominate, and vote on, nonprofit organizations. Selected organizations are then supported by Weitz employees throughout the following year with contributions matched by the firm. In this way, we promote and foster a culture of giving back that is a genuine part of who we are as a firm.

Note: Requests for charitable contributions and event sponsorships should be submitted in September—October to be considered for the following calendar year. Requests submitted during other times of the year may not be considered. Submit requests to Weitz Investment Management, 1125 S. 103rd Street, Omaha, NE  68124. Questions should be directed to jsears@weitzinvestments.com.

Jeans For Charity Fridays

A $5 donation to charity each Friday buys employees the opportunity to wear jeans. Last year alone, we raised over $15,000 for our 2018 recipients! Our charities for 2019 are Children’s Organ Transplant Association and Wounded Warriors Family Support.

Weitz Investments and our employees frequently donate time, talents, and dollars to a wide variety of nonprofit organizations.
